the cottage
Our aim is that Agra Cottage sits in a class of its own in terms of location, quality of accommodation and the facilities we provide.
The cottage has been completely and sensitively converted from a former dales barn.
We spent 3 years working on the structure, painfully at times, restoring, reclaiming and maintaining the essence of the building and the place whilst sourcing the right materials, furntiure and fabrics to create what we refer to as contemporary comfort.
Externally the cottage has a gated private yard which connects to a newly established walled garden for your exclusive and private use. We have planted a small orchard of fruit trees, built a greenhouse and family vegetable garden.
Clematis and rambling roses, climb the walls and we have planted a small heather rock garden for your enjoyment.
If you are a sporting guest we have a gun safe for your use, and dogs are welcome. We have installed a very clean and comfortable Reeves kennels block for your use.
You will hear owls in the evening, see curlews, lapwings and oystercatchers in the spring.
You may even see the odd deer if you time your stay correctly.

The accommodation comprises 3 double sized bedrooms full of character each extend into the roof with exposed timbers. Spotlights and table lights ensure the perfect mood. all linen is the finest egyptian cotton linen and duck down pillows and duvets.
The bath and shower room is fully tiled in Antica Rustica marble, equipped with designer wares and towel rail to keep your towels and robes warm.
The ground floor throughout is finished in beautiful natural sandstone.
There is a fully equipped kitchen with Smeg oven, gas hob, microwave, washer dryer, coffee machine, full size dishwasher and full size undercounter freezer.
In addition there is an ancillary utility/ boot room for your convenience.
The living room is spacious with an enormous L-shaped sofa, perfect to snuggle down in after a busy day exploring. Three large full height windows frame breathtaking vistas across open countryside. Flat screen TV, Sky, DVD player, broadband and telephone service are also included as standard.
The dining room is full of character with exposed stone walls, double height space into the roof trusses and an enormous picture window . A large slate table, seats eight and the scene is set for many memorable dining experiences throughout your stay.
guest services
We provide a " welcome pack" and is with our compliments, it contains enough to get you through your first night. It includes tea, coffee, milk, sugar, bread, butter and preserves much of which is both
sourced locally and includes award winning produce.
Please keep the 2 complimentary “I'd rather be at Agra Cottage” china mugs as a memento of your stay.
We will provide some basic cleaning provisions, dish cloth, sponge, washing up liquid, dishwasher tablets, toilet roll and bin liner.
The toiletry pack similarly includes bath/ shower gel, shampoo and complimentary exfoliating glove and a bottle of mineral water per room
Oh...there will also be a bottle of something cold in the fridge.
Each room is provided with a robe for use during your stay.
If you would like additional services such as a daily tidy and bed making service this can be arranged at an additional cost and subject to notice.
Various supermarkets do deliver. If you would prefer to have your essentials delivered in advance of your arrival we can meet the delivery on your behalf and have it unpacked and put away before you arrive, just ask.
If the thought of cooking after your journey is also too much we can arrange for a home made kitchen supper be ready for you...we aim to please as far as possible.
